The last update was about roofs and this one's no different. The loco's been under the hoist and on and off the turntable more times than enough this week as the roofs were lifted off, had the overlap strips welded on, refitted and checked and then lifted off again for paint.

Out of interest, the loco will be on the turntable this weekend (7 & 8 June) so any visitors to Barrow Hill will be able to get (slightly) closer to it than normal.

The roof from the no. 2 end, control cubicle end. The chalked on identification is not as daft as it seems, it's fairly easy to forget which way round they are and which orientation too. This roof is a much-shortened piece of the donor loco roof with a overlap strip far smaller than they were on Baby Deltics. In order to complete the appearance accurately, it was necessary to weld a strip on the inside of the existing strip to extend its apparent width, the second photo makes this clear. The second photo also shows the new strip across the roof.

Two more view of the other side of the same roof, before and after the fitting of the strips.
