In partial preparation for the loco featuring as the centre-piece display at next weekend's event the loco received an all-over wash. Using the traditional methods of brush / sponge / soap / water / hose it took nearly an afternoon to wash on one of the hottest days of the year. In the photo below the loco is seen drying off rapidly in the heat, free from dust and debris for the first time in months.

Apart from the clean we've been busy making an effort on the 'visual progress' but if you want to see what we've done you'll have to come to the open weekend at Barrow Hill.

There's parking at the site and if you're coming by public transport you can use the free shuttle bus from Chesterfield railway station.
