Nose end detail continues

The detailing pieces for the nose ends are coming along nicely. Delivered this week have been the laser-cut parts for the ladders and Marker & Tail Lamp pockets. The ladders (seen below after tacking together) are a rare example of having a drawing to copy (albeit for a Class 40) and having a detailed photo available too. This made the manufacture a doddle and for once it took longer for the parts to be delivered than it took to design something.

The rungs (left, in the photo below) were bent up from 12mm bar on a purpose-built mandrel. Similarly the nose-top grab rails (right) were bent up from 20mm bar. In both cases the leg length has yet to be trimmed.

The rungs were placed and clamped to a jig to ensure perfect pitch and alignment.
