Last week the fuel tank was installed to the loco. Whilst it may have to come off again once more at some point we can probably tick this one off the list now. The loco is seen below having been moved onto the turntable at Barrow Hill ready to be shunted outside to position the tank.

With the tank mounted on a PW trolley to ease its movement around the site, it was pushed outside and is seen here prior to being picked up with a forklift.

Once removed from the PW trolley the tank was moved out of the way so that the loco could be shunted outside.

Installation complete! The outer end loco bracket (the far end of the tank in this photo) swings out of the way to allow the tank to be lifted vertically into position. It is then simply a case of bolting the inner end up, bolting this hanger brackets up and bolting the outer end up. In all the whole process took less than an hour.

The underframe is now starting to look better. Fitting the tank has improved the appearance no end and the loco looks more and more complete as each month passes.

The final part of the installation will be to fit the two lower rolled edges. These were left off to make installation easier and to reduce the chance of damaging them with the fork lift. This photo makes an interesting comparison with the earlier one from the same position.
